Manchester United’s Champions League credentials will be put to the test with a daunting away fixture against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

Erik ten Hag’s men are in a state of disarray following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford, which saw the Red Devils slump to their third Premier League loss in five games.

The clash in southern Germany is by far United’s most daunting Champions League group stage fixture, with games against Galatasaray and Copenhagen still to come, and a result of any sort would set them up well for the rest of their European campaign.

Here is your full brief ahead of Manchester United’s Group A clash with Bayern Munich, including team news and their predicted line-up.

What time is kick-off?

Team news

Raphael Varane, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and new signing Sofyan Amrabat are among United’s casualties with Aaron Wan-Bissaka joining them this week after suffering a hamstring injury late on against Brighton.

Youngsters Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo are also among those unavailable along with back-up goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

It had been hoped Varane and Mount might recover in time for the meeting but the pair have not been included in United’s travelling squad.

Harry Maguire has also failed to make the trip due to a knock, leaving Jonny Evans as their only fit centre-half behind first-team pairing Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof.

Hannibal Mejbri and fellow youngsters Dan Gore and Omari Forson have made the cut, however.

Jadon Sancho and Antony remain absent due to their respective off-field issues, as does Luke Shaw through injury.

The hosts, meanwhile, welcome back Jamal Musiala from a spell in the treatment room, where Manuel Neuer, Kingsley Coman and Raphael Guerreiro currently reside and will thus miss the encounter.

Harry Kane, who reportedly had his heart set on a switch to Old Trafford before making the move to the Allianz Arena in the summer, is set to make his Champions League debut for the German champions.

Thomas Tuchel will not be on the sideline for Bayern as he serves a one match suspension for the red card he received in the second leg of their quarter-final tie against Manchester City last season.

Assistant coaches Zsolt Löw and Anthony Barry, both formerly of Chelsea, will be tasked with orchestrating proceedings from the touchline instead.

Manchester United predicted line-up: Onana; Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Reguilon; Casemiro, McTominay, Eriksen, Bruno; Hojlund, Rashford
