Bayelsa State Chief Judge, CJ, Justice Matilda Ayemieye, on Wednesday, recognized 18 state High Court retirees for their meritorious services to the judiciary.

Ayemieye, who also gave prizes to the honorees, praised Governor Douye Diri for establishing a conducive environment for the judiciary to work.

The retired judges, according to the CJ, are still part of the judiciary family as far as they are living, and some of them will be maintained as contract personnel.

“All of you have done the Bayelsa judiciary proud. Without your contributions, we wouldn’t have been where we are today.

“Today, I call on the judiciary workers to put in their best, without any bitterness. I also appeal to the staff members to always report to work early and regularly.

Ayemieye delivered gift items to the retirees at the event, which was hailed as a watershed moment in the history of the state judiciary.

The Chief Registrar of the High Court, Amaebi Orukari, had previously thanked the chief judge for hosting the retirees and praised the honorees for their contributions to the judiciary.
