Bandits who kidnapped worshippers from the Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, have issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding ₦200 million for the release of their captives.
This development was reported by The Truth, a Kogi-based news outlet.

The attack took place during a church service on November 30, 2025, when armed men stormed the premises and abducted 14 people, including the church’s presiding pastor, popularly known as Orlando, and six children from his household. Among the victims are a three-week-old baby and a four-month-old infant.

According to the report, the kidnappers initially demanded ₦500 million before reducing the ransom to ₦200 million, warning the families that failure to comply before the deadline would lead to dire “consequences.”

A video now circulating on social media shows the pastor’s relatives pleading for government intervention. In the footage, four women kneel in distress, including the pastor’s wife, who begged Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo to intervene and help secure the release of their loved ones.

“Please, come to our rescue. The amount the kidnappers are demanding is beyond our means,” she said.

Community members have also voiced concern over the silence from state authorities, noting that more than a week has passed with no clear public update on rescue efforts.

The pastor, described as both a cleric and farmer, and his wife, a petty trader, have seen their entire household plunged into fear as all seven members taken from their home remain in captivity.

Residents warn the situation is becoming increasingly desperate as the 48-hour deadline approaches.
