Kachalla Dogo Isah, one of the most notorious bandit leaders in Kaduna State, has been killed in a violent confrontation with a group of repentant bandits in Kachia Forest on January 7, 2025.

The clash occurred when Isah’s group attempted to steal cattle from a camp led by Kachalla Musa, a former bandit leader who recently joined a government-backed peace initiative.

The situation escalated into a gun battle, leading to the deaths of Dogo Isah and two of his men.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama confirmed the details of the conflict, stating, “The violence erupted as Isah’s group tried to raid the cattle camp, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire.”

Dogo Isah had been a major security threat in the region, known for his involvement in cattle rustling, attacks on security personnel, and other criminal activities in the Kachia and Kajuru areas.

His refusal to engage in peace efforts had further fueled instability in the region.

The death of Dogo Isah marks a significant reduction in banditry in Kaduna, though it highlights the ongoing risks faced by those leaving banditry behind.

In September 2024, Isah’s cousin, Tukur Sharme, was also killed in a similar clash with repentant bandits.
