The Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) has disclosed that the story credited to the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, lampooning the Osun APC leaders over the results of the February 25, 2023 elections, was a mere fabrication.
The party in a statement by its chairman in the state, Tajudeen Lawal added that the report was a rumour allegedly from the mill of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a figment of the imagination of those spreading it.
The statement which was signed by Kola Olabisi, the Osun APC Director of Media and Information described the composition as one scripted to confuse the people.
The statement added that “The series of falsehoods against the APC being churned out by the leadership of the state PDP is an indication that they are pungently worried and rattled.
“The President-elect as a seasoned politician with candour is not, at all times, given to frivolity to the extent of dragging his party in the mud as it’s the usual practice in the PDP.
The party also warned those behind the misinformation to desist from using falsehoods to drive their campaign of calumny against the APC.
An unconfirmed statement which hit social media on Friday claimed that the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu had lambasted party leaders from Osun State.
The statement claimed that Bisi Akande, a former governor of the state and first chairman of the party was in the state’s entourage on the visit.
The statement which was allegedly credited to an unnamed credible source also stated that Tinubu informed the Osun APC delegation that he has been elected the leader of the country irrespective of political affiliations charging them to go back and rebuild the party again in preparation for the 2026 guber election.
Meanwhile, Newspot had reported that the PDP in Osun had denied any plans by the state governor, Ademola Adeleke to defect to the APC.
The party in a statement dismissed the rumour and described it as fallacious and a cheap lie.
The Osun PDP also alleged that the state chapter of the APC was allegedly behind the spread of the statement.
The party also called on the public to discard the rumour as there was no basis for it.
