RE-WHY I WON’T PRAY FOR AKEREDOLU BY YEMI AKINTOMIDE: ONDO STATE PEOPLE HAVE PRAYED AND HIS GOD HAS ANSWERED

“l shall not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done. The LORD has chastened me severely, but he has not given me over to death. Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the LORD. This is the gate of the LORD through which the righteous may enter” –
Psalm 118 : 17

This morning, as I was preparing for Sunday Service, I read the position of Yemi Akintomide (an itinerant hustler and voodoo journalist) on the ill health of the Governor of Ondo State and the reasons why he would not pray for him. While I agree with Yemi that he has no such obligation or duty to Akeredolu and his family, he ought to realize that we are all human “ ti eni ti o de la ri, ti eni ti o nbo la o mo”. It is a shifting sand, if it’s Akeredolu and his family today, who knows to whom the bell tolls tomorrow?
I consider it very inhuman and un-African to open claim he will not pray for a sick person. If you won’t pray for such person for healing, you are basically asking for death for such person. There is no other meaning.

As a summary, he gave the following reasons; Akeredolu’s wife was not concerned about her husband’s health but rather organizing fundraisings. His son Babajide, showed no concern and was searching for appointment in Abuja by visiting the President. Further, the wife of Akeredolu is currently preparing for another opportunity to make money through her 70th birthday.

To him, neither the Akeredolu immediate family nor his siblings have shown enough commitment to pray for their brother since “ the family members are the one enjoying his wealth, his fame and power and influence that came with his position as Governor of Ondo State…”

Going further, he felt since Akeredolu’s wife rejected a situation where a strange woman takes over the duty of caring for his “ailing “ husband, she has thus foreclosed any outside help, hence, the organizing of prayers by outsiders including civil servants and other persons are sycophancy and are needless.

I have tried a content analysis of
Akintomide’s post and I have tried to elicit what could push a human being to show this level of wickedness to another human being at his most vulnerable hour of need. For whatever it is worth, Yemi Akintomide falls in the garb of those who want Aketi dead and out of the way for their preferred person to become the Governor of Ondo State by crook or hook.

The totality of the essence of his write up is contained in the last paragraph where he stated, “… the recent action of civil servants in the Ondo State Public Service, gathering to pray to God for the quick recovery of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, is baseless and sycophantic in nature”. Here goes the clincher “ Since the Governor has yielded to the demand of the people and the dictate of the Nigeria Constitution by commencing medical leave on 7th of June, 2023 to attend to his health issue and has HANDED OVER THE AFFAIRS OF THE STATE TO HIS DEPUTY, HON. LUCKY ORIMISAN AIYEDATIWA”. He finally submitted “ let everyone face his or her duties and put the State on developmental stride…”.

Based on the above it is easy to query the assumptions and interrogate the vacuous summation put forward by Akintomide’s mindlessness. It is not out of sync to suggest that he is one of those who assumed or were requested to do hatchet job for their preferred person as the Governor of Ondo State. I ask Yemi, does his education not inform him that the Governor constitutionally is a public property and he holds the reigns and the reins in the State? That both his physical, mental and emotional well-being should be the concern of every citizen? Has education not able to elicit to him that whatever the wives and family engage in as long as it does not in anyway impinge on the constitutional responsibility of the Governor has no legal baisis except emotionalism?

Going forward, praying for the Governor means two things to those who indulge in it. It shows the humanity in you and those who partake in it and at the end you will reap what you sow. I am aware that a portion of the Bible says “ gbadura fun ire Jerusalemu, gbogbo awon t’o fe yio se rere”. Pray for the good of Jerusalem and all that loves it shall be blessed. By practical politics or philosophical political arrangement, Akeredolu is our “ Jerusalem”. He is the “State”, the Sovereign and he is the “Hegemon”.
Until February 24th , 2025 he is the Governor and everyone holds any power at his pleasure including the Deputy Governor.

Would it not appear to you it could be part of the family strategy to allow everyone live their life as if nothing is amuse while Mr Governor is receiving treatment? Is it an impossibility? Is it impossible that the visit of Babajide and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim to Mr President granted their relationship and the effort Akeredolu made towards his
election had something to do with the health nature of the Governor? Why must that be an issue upon which a human being can discreetly wish another dead.
If you don’t know, that is what you have advocated. As a Yoruba man, or African have you forgotten what roles prayers play in times like this? Is it not a truism that “ bi a ba ja, bi ka ku ko”. That we quarrel is not enough that one of us should die.

You cannot hide for too long as your write up has totally exposed you. It is clear that you are one of those that lurks in the dark waiting to hear the bad news of the demise of Akeredolu. You are one of those that are praying that he won’t survive because you want the Deputy Governor to take over so you can have your own “bite at the cherry”. Definitely you are one of those spinning vile and smear all over the State waiting for the nunc dimitis of Aketi. Unfortunately for you, you will wait till eternity. Aketi will not die now. He will come back hail and hearty and finish the task of leading Ondo State to a better pedestal.

For every Yemi Akintomide and his ilks that will not pray for Aketi at this hour of need, there are millions of Ondo State people on their kneels everyday praying to God for his healing. There are thousands of Ondo State workers on their kneels in prayer for him. There are known and unknown persons who have enjoyed the benefit of his leadership in Ondo State or looking forward to enjoying him, who are not silent on his plight. Aketi is not a Saint but he is not a hypocrite. Men will forgive him and God has granted the supplication of the people on his behalf.

It is good that you won’t pray but it is better for you to pray for your “Jerusalem”. The message for those who pray is that they will be prayed for at their own time of need. When you point out one finger to someone the rest four is pointing to you. Pray for Aketi if you have not seen the reason to pray for him.

For those who are of the notion that what Akeredolu deserves is death, they are better reminded that they are not his maker. Akeredolu will not die on account of his enemies plans. Those who have sent out words for his death because they want to take over his position, they have forgotten that “ aki gbo iku oko, aki gbo iku ada, ti a ba pe Oku ni popo, alaye lo ndahun”. They must be reminded that soon and very soon, the prayer of the Saints will work for Akeredolu. He will be back because. “Epon Agbo kan n’mi ni ko ni j’abo”.

Yemi Akintomide, thanks for exposing your evil wishes and your position as a hatchet man to others dangerously wishing Akeredolu the worst. But the State is glad that you are not the “killer and maker” of humanity, may those who wish another death meet calamity at the doorstep of their domains.
