The training, which will be overseen by the Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency, PAWECA, will cover welding, solar installation, tiling, tailoring, catering, and other vocational skills.

The Director-General of PAWECA, Dr Michael Zira, disclosed this while briefing members of the press in his office on Thursday. He urged all interested candidates to contact the PAWECA desk officer in their respective local government areas to express their interest and commitment.

“To ensure the inclusion of people at the grassroots level across the 226 wards in the state, PAWECA has sent a notification letter to all ward councillors to sensitise and encourage participation among their constituents,” Zira stated.

Reiterating his commitment to a transparent and credible selection process, he said a needs assessment and common entrance examination would be conducted to identify qualified candidates, who would then be given three choices of vocational training to select from.

The training will last for three months, six months, or longer, depending on the nature of the course.
