The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ACE Mall, Prince Adeyinka Afonja, has praised Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for creating a business-friendly environment that has allowed enterprises in the state to thrive.
Speaking at the convocation ceremony of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, where he received an honorary award, Prince Afonja announced a ₦10 million donation to support infrastructure development and the upgrade of the school’s solar system.
The business mogul emphasized that education is a shared responsibility and should not be left solely to government. “They deserve a more conducive environment to learn, and every little we contribute adds up,” he noted.
Prince Afonja further encouraged graduating students to view learning as a lifelong pursuit. According to him, “Graduation should not be the end of learning. Continuous learning is the key to success in any field. Without it, one risks mediocrity. Knowledge is what sets you apart and opens greater opportunities for you.”
On governance, he commended Governor Makinde’s pragmatic policies, describing himself as a direct beneficiary. “We never had it this good before. Governor Seyi Makinde is truly committed to business, especially the ease of doing business. Personally, I am a beneficiary of his visionary leadership in creating the enabling environment for my business to flourish,” Afonja stated.
He added that the recognition from the polytechnic would further inspire him to invest more in the education sector, noting that part of ACE Mall’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) this year is targeted at supporting tertiary institutions in Oyo State.
