Manchester United are reportedly preparing for a major squad reshuffle after agreeing a deal worth around £35 million for Brazilian midfielder Éderson from Atalanta BC. Reports in England say the Premier League club is now ready to place three players on the transfer market as part of efforts to balance the squad and reduce wage pressure ahead of the new season.
The 26-year-old midfielder is expected to become the first signing under new head coach Michael Carrick after United reached an agreement with Atalanta for an initial fee of about £35 million, with additional performance-based add-ons included in the package.
According to transfer reports, United are now willing to listen to offers for veteran midfielder Casemiro, Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte, and another fringe squad player as the club pushes ahead with midfield restructuring ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Sky Sports reported that United still intend to sign another midfielder even after completing the Ederson transfer, suggesting further exits may occur before the close of the summer window.
Ederson has impressed in Serie A with his physical style, ball recovery ability, and box-to-box energy. The Brazilian played a major role in Atalanta’s recent successes and is viewed internally at Old Trafford as a player capable of bringing more intensity and balance to the midfield.
Manchester United are expected to continue aggressive transfer activity in the coming weeks as Carrick attempts to rebuild the squad following a turbulent period at the club.
