Governor Eno Mourns With Osung Family Over Daughter’s Passing

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has commiserated with the family of Chief Okon Osung over the death of their daughter, Late Affiong Okon Osung, describing her passing as a painful and irreparable loss.

The Governor’s condolence message was delivered by the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, during the funeral ceremony held on Tuesday at the Dr. Val Attah Open Space, Osongama, Uyo.

Governor Eno expressed deep sadness over the demise of the late Affiong Osung and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, praying for divine comfort and strength during their moment of grief.

“I received with deep sadness the news of the unfortunate passing of your beloved daughter, Late Affiong Okon Osung, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to you and your family during this profoundly difficult time,” the Governor stated.

He noted that losing a child remains one of life’s most painful experiences, adding that although her life was cut short, the deceased would be remembered for the warmth, love and joy she shared with people around her.

The Governor urged the family to draw strength from the memories they shared with the deceased and prayed for God to grant them the fortitude to bear the painful loss.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State, I commiserate with you and your family and pray that God grants the soul of your beloved daughter eternal rest,” he added.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Assistant Regional ECK Spiritual Aide, South-South and Officiating Clergy, Engr. Peter Umana, encouraged mourners to remain steadfast in faith despite the pain associated with death.

Quoting from *The Golden Heart, Mahanta Transcript, Book 4*, he described death as a transition into a higher spiritual realm and stressed that devotion to God makes the passage peaceful and natural.

Tributes were also delivered by political associates, friends and members of the spiritual community, who described the late Affiong Osung as compassionate, outspoken and impactful.

Member representing Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Udung Uko/Urueoffong Oruko Federal Constituency, Mr. Martin Esin, described the deceased as friendly, forgiving and down-to-earth, noting that her life positively impacted many people.

Dr. Asuquo Awana and Mr. Ekanem Etim also paid glowing tributes, describing her as a woman who radiated love and sincerity in her dealings with people.

A condolence message on behalf of Eckankar was delivered by Mr. Idorenyin Ufot, who encouraged the family to remain strong while remembering the deceased for her kindness and positive influence.

Late Affiong Okon Osung was born on September 8, 1984, to the Royal Family of Osung Ikpuk Isu and Mrs. Nduonyi Osung of Ekim Village in Udung Uko Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Until her passing, she was a lecturer at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, and a member of Eckankar, the Path of Spiritual Freedom.

The funeral ceremony attracted dignitaries including the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akon Eyakenyi and spouse, political stakeholders, academics, family members, friends and sympathisers from different walks of life.
