The Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Land, Sheikh Al-Imam Bilal Husayn Akinola Akeugberu, has visited the Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between religious institutions and security agencies.
The visit took place on Tuesday at the NSCDC Command Headquarters in Agodi, Ibadan, where the Grand Imam met with the State Commandant, Commandant Augustine Padonu.
Sheikh Akeugberu said cooperation between religious leaders and security agencies remains important in promoting peace, unity, and stability across Oyo State.
He commended the NSCDC for its role in protecting lives, maintaining internal security, and safeguarding critical national assets.
The Grand Imam also assured the command of the continued support of the Muslim community in areas such as intelligence sharing, peaceful coexistence, and conflict prevention.
In his response, Commandant Padonu thanked the Grand Imam for the visit, describing it as timely and important.
He said the NSCDC remains ready to work with religious leaders, traditional institutions, and community stakeholders to improve security awareness and deepen grassroots engagement.
Padonu added that trust, cooperation, and mutual respect are essential to achieving lasting peace and protecting citizens.
The visit ended with a renewed commitment by both parties to strengthen cooperation for the safety and development of Oyo State.
