The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Campaign Council in Osun State has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of mismanaging over ₦1 trillion in state resources within three years, alleging that the administration has failed to translate increased revenue into meaningful development.

The Head of Media and Publicity of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye, made the claims in a statement issued in Osogbo on Monday. He alleged that the Adeleke administration prioritized non-essential spending, including an estimated ₦92 billion on food consumption, while investing only about ₦7 billion in agriculture over the same period.

Omowaiye further accused the state government of lacking transparency, particularly regarding an alleged ₦57.6 billion debt relief granted by the Federal Government, which he claimed has not been disclosed to the public.

According to him, the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), represents an alternative focused on responsible governance and sectoral development. He outlined plans by the candidate to prioritize agriculture, healthcare, housing, transportation, and electricity, leveraging recent constitutional changes that allow states to generate and manage power.

He also disclosed that an APC-led administration would revive policies such as car loan schemes for civil servants and food support programmes, while expanding housing initiatives and improving mortgage accessibility for residents.

Omowaiye criticized the current administration’s infrastructure approach, alleging that contracts have been awarded to firms without relevant experience. He assured that the APC candidate would engage qualified contractors to deliver durable projects across the state.

The APC spokesperson also addressed issues surrounding past governance, clarifying that the half-salary policy in Osun predated Oyebamiji’s tenure as Commissioner for Finance and was reversed under the previous APC administration. He added that the University of Ilesa was established under former Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

On security and local government funding, Omowaiye maintained that responsibilities are shared across all levels of government and dismissed claims that federal authorities are withholding local government allocations.

He called on the Osun State Government to provide clarity on financial matters and urged the media to prioritize factual reporting.
