The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has described the ongoing Lagere flyover and road dualisation project as critical to the development of Ile-Ife and the broader Ifeland region, commending Governor Ademola Adeleke for prioritising infrastructure across Osun State.

Speaking during a visit by the governor to his palace in Ile-Ife on Tuesday, the monarch characterised Lagere as the “nerve centre” of Ifeland, noting its strategic importance as a convergence point for economic and social activities across multiple local governments.

The royal father also dismissed claims that development efforts are concentrated in a single area, stating that the current administration’s projects are spread across towns and villages in the state. He urged the governor to ensure timely completion of the Lagere flyover and associated road works, emphasising their importance to mobility and commerce.

Meanwhile, a large crowd of members of the Igbekele Oluwa Cooperative Society gathered in Enuwa, Ile-Ife, to endorse the governor’s bid for re-election. The group’s president, Chief Abubakar Bulliaminu Olanrewaju, said the endorsement reflects the support of over 30,000 members who, according to him, have witnessed improvements in infrastructure and welfare under the current administration.

Responding to the endorsement, Governor Adeleke highlighted the role of cooperative societies in driving grassroots economic growth, stating that his government has committed significant financial resources to support cooperative financing, small businesses, and community-level development initiatives.

He called on members of the cooperative movement to mobilise support ahead of the 2026 governorship election, assuring them of continued investment in programmes aimed at strengthening local economies and reducing poverty.
