Always Thinking about Nigeria: By Femi Idowu

🔴 Breaking News:

Like him or not Tinubu is an enigma!
Believe his bio data or not, he is today the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Like his style of politics or not, he seems to be absolutely controlling the Nigerian political space. He is setting the agenda for others to play, what appears to me as reactionary politics.
I am not a Tinubu person neither do I hate him.
I am also not one to deceive myself.
I keep asking myself many questions all the time I read kind publication on Tinubu, I seem to be reacting. Reports that want to shred him. However he put himself up for it! I am not sympathising with him in any way.

I just keep thinking about Nigeria!
I am always thinking about what I can do along with other well meaning Nigerians to begin to put things in order progressively. Rather than dissipate all energy on one individual (Tinubu) who is possibly oblivious of all darts being thrown at him.

I keep asking myself some questions:

Did Tinubu blindfold or hypnotise everyone in the political space when he started off raw in politics?
Where were those who claim they are the original Lagosians, as one individual gradually took over the number 1 state in Nigeria.

Where was everyone when Tinubu was building his network North to South, East to West.

I really need answers to these questions.
I also wish to make it abundantly clear that I am not Tinubu’s supporter and I don’t intend to be one.

There’s absolutely no need for that!

I am happy and extremely grateful to God for how He continues to lead me step by step to higher heights. In God alone I have put my absolute trust- far more than 100%.

2027 is ‘just a few seconds away’ and I believe the tone of politics particularly from the opposition must be very clearly defined for us to achieve any significant change.

Where I stand for now is this- Tinubu is Nigeria’s President and he needs my prayers as he needs yours during his tenure.
Yorubas say irorun igi ni irorun eiye.
We need to pray for divine wisdom for him to do what’s right to ensure a brighter future for Nigeria- he is there, he is our President.

At the same time we must have a very robust opposition to his regime for things to work properly in our democracy.

I don’t see Tinubu as a messiah sent by God to cure all the ills in/of Nigeria.
I am not one of his cheerleaders.
I believe he’s bound to do some things right for which he should be commended if and when they happen.

Nigeria is very complex and he will definitely get some things wrong.
Where he goes wrong some people will decide to roast him, and they are entitled to their approach.
Some others will wish to keep helping him cross any hurdle and they should not be crucified.

I am all for PEACE in Nigeria particularly as we approach 2027.
Nigeria is far more important than any individual or political party.
What we need is the best for our country.

We have a sizeable percentage of political illiterates in our country. The fact that many have studied to tertiary level of education and even beyond is not reflecting in comments, utterances and general political behaviour of a large percentage of Nigerians.

The higher the percentage of political illiterates in Nigeria, the easier it will be to lead our people by the nose.

Rather than just continuing to abuse and disparage each other, why can’t people come together not to campaign for anybody but to educate our people on decent political behaviour.
It’s very unfortunate that many Nigerians have convinced themselves that Nigeria cannot get better. That the people who are holding the country by the jugular cannot be controlled and contained.

The current tendency now is if you can’t beat them, join them.

I am not going to subscribe to any defeatist tendencies.
This is why I am involved in some private initiatives aimed at making Nigeria greater.
I believe we have a good number of good, credible people in Nigeria. There are many decent Nigerians and I don’t agree to wholesale condemnation of my dear country.

I believe the good old cliche applies to Nigeria- we have the good, the bad and the ugly- many other countries including the so called developed ones are just like that too.

So I am not going to fold my arms, I am not giving up on the ‘giant of Africa’. I still am proud of my country not condoning the deterioration in many areas but keeping hope alive from empirical information I have that one day very soon, if all of us wake up and contribute our quota in ways we deem fit NIGERIA WILL RISE AGAIN.

We potentially have all it takes to make it BIG for God’s glory, as a country.

This is why among other things I have pitched my tent with the THINK TANK FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (TTTSD) and you will begin to hear a lot more from us from now on.
We are planning a big outing online slated for April 16 -just a few days away!

Together, working from different dimensions, we can ensure the birth of the Nigeria of our dream.
GOD BLESS NIGERIA!
