🔴 Breaking News:
  • Tasks Adeleke to Showcase His Scorecard
  • Explain Reasons For Jumping Bail Over Alleged Criminal Exam Malpractice

The Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts has alerted the good people of Osun State regarding the latest desperate plot by the Osun State Government, acting through its surrogates, privies and political agents, to orchestrate the disqualification of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) on the basis of frivolous, unfounded and politically motivated allegations.

This was contained in a statement signed and released by Adebayo Adedeji, the Coordinator, AMBO Media Fronts

In the statement it was revealed that the so-called lawsuit does not even question the academic credentials of AMBO, after they unsuccessfully combed through the certificates of the APC candidate in search of faults. Instead, it hinges on the claim that Oyebamiji submitted an appointment letter as MD/CEO of NIWA bearing his Muslim name, Munirudeen—a name they allege does not appear on his other credentials. This is nothing but a ridiculous and frivolous suit

The fact of the matter is that Governor Adeleke has possibly seen the handwriting of electoral loss on the wall, hence the panic mode activated by his bumbling government.

Across the state, independent surveys, opinion polls and direct feedback from citizens consistently affirm that AMBO is the preferred choice—widely regarded as the candidate best positioned to deliver competent, transparent, and forward-looking governance. They have rejected Adeleke, citing his administration’s poor performance over the past three years. For instance, the state reportedly spent a mere N7 billion on agriculture and food security in three years, while an outrageous N92 billion was expended on sustaining the governor’s “stomach infrastructure.”

Having realised that they have got no scorecard to campaign with, they are now desperate to reduce AMBO to their miserable level of “Oluwole and Penn Foster” academic scandal which has defined Adeleke in the last 8 years.

Recall that the Nigerian Police had on October 31, 2019, arraigned Senator Ademola Adeleke on a four-count charge alongside Sikiru Adeleke, his brother, Aregbesola Mufutau, principal of the school, Gbadamosi Thomas Ojo, the registrar, and Dare Olutope, a teacher. This case is not the same with an alleged testimonial forgery at Èdè Muslim High School involving same Senator Adeleke.

Adeleke and his brother were accused of impersonation, both registering as students of Ojo-Aro Community Grammar School, Ojo-Aro, Osun state to enable them to sit for the National Examinations Council (NECO) examination of June/July 2017, while the other defendants were accused of aiding commission of the alleged offence.

According to the police, the offences contravened the provisions of the Examination Malpractices Act Cap E15 LFN 2004.

The court had on May 6, 2019, granted leave to the former senator to travel to the United States for medical treatment. The judge ordered him to return to the country on June 9. But fearing that the case against him might lead to jail term, Adeleke jumped bail and refused to face his trial in Nigeria.

At the commencement of trial, the prosecution counsel informed the court that the police had decided to expunge Adeleke’s name from the charges and re-arraign the other defendants.

The prosecution explained that Adeleke’s continuous absence had continued to stall the trial.

Adeleke did not return to Nigeria until September 2021 to contest the 2022 governorship election. Strangely, on his return, Adeleke beat his way around the judicial system. Rather than facing the trial, he chose to flaunt a controversial degree from a backend-5-bedroom-flat college in Atlanta which he reportedly obtained in 28 days as against the traditional 3-4 year duration. But the fact remains that Adeleke did not stand trial for the criminal offence of examination malpractice levelled against him. The criminal case is still hanging on his neck. And in due course, he will answer for all the charges against him regarding his academic credentials.

This is a despicable record that the Adeleke government does not want the public to scrutinise as the electioneering progresses. Hence, the plot to equate the decently educated AMBO with a governor whose personal and official conduct has become a major embarrassment to the people of Osun.

It is both ironic and troubling that a governor who, despite his privileged background could not complete his secondary education meritoriously, and who, like a loafer and lotus eater, idled and laid about for 60 years before political pressure in 2018 led to the hurried acquisition of a controversial degree from an obscure college, now seeks to diminish the well-documented academic and professional accomplishments of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

They believe that by manufacturing noise around names and documents, they can distract from the real issues and deceive the people of Osun State. They believe that such antics can salvage their rapidly diminishing public rating. They are mistaken. The good people of Osun are discerning and will not be swayed by such pedestrian tactics.

Again, we urge the public to disregard these distractions and remain focused on the issues that matter: credible leadership, integrity and the future of Osun State.
