Ombugadu, a former two-term member of the House of Representatives, announced his resignation in a letter dated February 28, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman of Ikka Wangibi Ward in Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area.

In the letter, he attributed his decision to unresolved internal disputes and the lingering leadership crisis within the party.

He, however, expressed appreciation to the PDP for providing him the platform to serve both Nasarawa State and Nigeria during his political career, noting that he remains grateful for the opportunities and support he received while in the party.

Ombugadu began his political journey under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), where he was elected in 2011 to represent the Akwanga/Nassarawa Eggon/Wamba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
