NOUN Partners US Firm to Launch Cosmetics Certification Programmes

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tropics Derma Research & Training Institute (TDRTI), a United States-based training organisation, to bring professional cosmetics and skincare training programmes to Nigeria.

The MoU was signed at NOUN headquarters in Abuja, facilitated by the Directorate of Advancement and Linkages, with Elite Beauty ITrends Ltd. serving as the implementing partner in Nigeria.

The partnership will see both institutions working together to offer Certificate and Professional Training Programmes covering areas like tropical cosmetology, skincare science, dermatological research, and aesthetics.

According to the agreement, there’s a growing need for specialised expertise in tropical cosmetics and medical aesthetics, which these programmes aim to address.

TDRTI, which specialises in research and professional training in tropical cosmetology and skincare, will provide the training methodologies and research frameworks for the courses.

Elite Beauty ITrends Ltd., Nigeria, will handle the on-ground coordination and implementation of activities in Nigeria.

The Director, Directorate of Advancement and Linkages, Prof. Ganiyat Adesina-Uthman, described the partnership as a significant milestone for the university.

She noted that the collaboration presents an opportunity to promote education, research, and professional development in a sector that has immense potential for growth in Nigeria and across Africa.
