Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has published a sweeping account of his administration’s accomplishments, showcasing transformative progress across welfare, infrastructure, healthcare, education, housing, aviation, and security. The governor’s impact report highlights 60 new priority projects and multiple reforms aimed at reshaping the state’s development trajectory.

Workers’ Welfare: Over N78 Billion in Pensions Cleared

Governor Eno’s emphasis on human capital is reflected in his unprecedented welfare interventions. More than N78 billion has been released to clear pension and gratuity backlogs, while teachers received a N1.2 billion wardrobe allowance. Akwa Ibom now boasts an N80,000 minimum wage, enjoys 13th-month salary payments, and has recruited 3,000 civil servants along with 2,000 health workers to strengthen public service delivery.

Infrastructure: Over 974km of Roads, 31 Bridges

The administration has delivered over 974 kilometres of roads and 31 bridges, opening new corridors for commerce, mobility, and rural access. These works reflect the government’s commitment to long-term infrastructure expansion across the state.

Aviation: Expansion of Ibom Air Fleet and Facilities

Akwa Ibom’s aviation sector continues to soar with the acquisition of four new aircraft, restructuring of the aviation village, construction of a new terminal building, and commencement of a state-of-the-art Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility. These investments consolidate the state’s position as a regional aviation hub.

Healthcare: 31 Model Facilities and New Hospitals

Across the health sector, the administration has constructed and rehabilitated several major facilities including:

  • New General Hospital, Itu
  • Rehabilitation of Ikot Ekpene General Hospital
  • Rehabilitation of St. Luke’s Hospital, Anua
  • General Hospital, Ibesikpo (ongoing)
  • Cottage Hospital, Ibiono
  • Model Primary Healthcare Centres in Nsit Ubium and Ibesikpo

This brings Akwa Ibom’s model healthcare facilities to 31 across all zones.

Education: 31 Model Schools and Free Education

Governor Eno has strengthened the education system through rehabilitation and construction of schools, expansion of Project Ikono Uruan, introduction of free education, payment of examination fees, subventions to schools, and creation of an Education Advisory and Trust Fund for learners with disabilities.

Housing Reforms: Public Servants and Community Development

Housing interventions include the development of Ewet Luxury Gardens, free housing schemes for public servants, and new official residences for local government chairmen.

Oron Maritime Revamp & CNG Mass Transit Scheme

The Oron Maritime Corridor continues to undergo redevelopment, alongside the launch of an eco-friendly Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) transport scheme to support green mobility.

Interventions and Social Investments

Notable reforms include:

  • Establishment of the Bureau of Public Agency
  • Arise Meat Factory
  • Arise Medical and Pharmaceutical Agency

Major Investment Projects

Governor Eno’s investment agenda is anchored on the ongoing Ibom Deep Sea Port, the Ibom Tower Project (80-storey building in Lagos), and the proposed Fourstar Ibom Hotels in Abuja.

Humanitarian Programmes

Under the Compassionate Homes initiative, 100 new homes have been completed and allocated to vulnerable households, alongside ongoing support programmes.

Youth Empowerment

Through the Arise Initiative for the Youth, more than 3,000 young people have been trained in tiling, turkey production, photography, videography, digital marketing, and more, accompanied by start-up capital to launch small enterprises.
