Two newly appointed federal officials — former Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Barrister Mukhtar Shagari, and former lawmaker, Hon. Musa S. Adar — on Wednesday paid a courtesy visit to former Governor Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko to express their appreciation for his guidance and support throughout their political careers.
Barrister Shagari was recently named Chairman, Governing Board of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), while Hon. Adar was appointed Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
During the visit in Sokoto, Senator Wamakko congratulated both appointees and charged them to approach their new responsibilities with honesty, commitment, and patriotism, noting that public service demands integrity and loyalty to the nation above all else.
He reminded them that their appointments come at a time when President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is pushing for institutional reforms that require diligence and strong leadership.
In their remarks, Shagari and Adar expressed deep gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the confidence reposed in them and to Governor Ahmed Aliyu for his support. They also thanked Senator Wamakko for his longstanding mentorship, describing him as a pillar of stability and guidance in Sokoto politics.
The duo pledged to justify the trust placed in them, promising to deliver results that will reflect positively on the administration and on the people of Nigeria.
The visit underscores the continued influence of Senator Wamakko as a political leader and mentor within and beyond Sokoto State.
