The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has confirmed Umar Damagum as the substantive National Chairman of the party.
The PDP’s delegates unanimously took this decision at the ongoing 2025 national convention of the party in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Newspot reports that the motion to ratify Damagum was moved by Tony Abineri, Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the party, on behalf of the 3,000 delegates present at the convention.
The motion was seconded by Edward Marshal and is said to be in accordance with Section 32 of the PDP Constitution as amended.
“I moved the motion for the ratification of Umaru Damagum as the substantive National Chairman of the party.
“This is in accordance with the Section 32 of the Constitution of the PDP as amended,” Abineri said while moving the motion.
Newspot reports that the convention holding November 15 and 16 is expected to produce a new chairman in a voting exercise by the delegates across states nationwide.
