Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged youths across the state to pursue excellence through hard work, resilience, and creativity, emphasizing that consistency remains a critical ingredient for achieving global recognition.
The Governor made the call while speaking at the โOkon and Friends Live in Concert,โ organized by renowned Nollywood actor and comedian, Ime Bishop Umoh, popularly known as โOkon Lagos,โ held at FlairMore Event Centre, Uyo.
Governor Eno, who commended the comedianโs career longevity and discipline, said Okon Lagosโ 25-year journey in the entertainment industry stands as a lesson in perseverance and focus.
โOne of the things that is not right with our young people today is that they donโt pursue their paths; they want to run other peopleโs race,โ the Governor remarked. โYou have been steady and focused on this career path, and that is why you are making an impressive impact in Nigeria and beyond.โ
The Governor announced plans to establish a Creative Village in Akwa Ibom to nurture talent, promote innovation, and create an enabling environment for the stateโs creative community.
โWe would continue to work with our young people and support creativity and innovations that would positively promote and position them to accomplish more in life,โ he added.
Expressing gratitude, Okon Lagos thanked Governor Eno for his humility and support, saying, โIt could only take the Governorโs humility to patronize my stupidity.โ
During the event, the comedian presented a posthumous award to the late First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, for her encouragement and belief in his career. Receiving the award on behalf of her mother, Lady Helen Obareki, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, described Okon Lagos as โthe pride of Akwa Ibom State.โ
The concert also featured performances by leading entertainers such as MC Pashun, Funny Bone, I Go Save, Dan DโHumourous, Mista Xto, Koloman, and The Senator.
Dignitaries in attendance included Deputy Governor Senator Dr. Akon Eyakenyi, Secretary to the State Government Prince Enobong Uwah, members of the State Executive Council, industry leaders, and fun seekers.
The event underscored Governor Enoโs ongoing commitment to empowering Akwa Ibom youth through innovation and creativity.
