2 Arraigned Over Alleged Mobile Phone Theft

Two persons, Sola Odunnibi, 37, and Sherifat Ahmid, 26, on Thursday, appeared before a Mapo Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Ibadan, over alleged stealing a smart mobile phone valued at N500,000.

However, Odunnibi and Ahmid pleaded not guilty to the two-counts of conspiracy and stealing instituted against them.

The court’s President, Mrs S.M. Akintayo admitted the defendants each to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Akintayo added that each of the sureties must provide evidence of tax payment to the Oyo State government.

Subsequently, she adjourned the case until June 30 for trial.

Earlier, the Prosecuting Counsel, Insp Ayodele Ayeni, had told the court that the defendants committed the crime on May 21, at Danest Hotel, Adeyi area of Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Ayeni further stated that Odunnibi and Ahmid conspired and stole a smart phone valued at N500,000, property of one Olumide Eyinmitan.

He said that the offences contravened the provisions of Section 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II Laws of Oyo State 2000.
