Abuja, Nigeria – October 1, 2025: As Nigeria celebrates her 65th Independence Anniversary, Dr. Olu Agunloye, the National Secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), has urged Nigerian leaders to embrace the principles that can guarantee true independence and national transformation.
In his official Independence Day message, Dr. Agunloye stressed that Nigeria’s leaders must adopt what he termed the four Cs – Character, Competence, Courage, and Compassion – in all their operations if the country is to overcome its challenges and achieve sustainable progress.
“For Nigeria to be truly independent, our leaders must pay mandatory attention to these four Cs in all their operations,” Dr. Agunloye declared.
He emphasized that independence should not only be celebrated as a political milestone but must also reflect in the quality of governance, accountability, and people-centered policies. According to him, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is committed to promoting leadership values that will restore trust in governance, strengthen democracy, and unlock Nigeria’s vast potential.
The SDP leader also called on citizens to remain resilient, united, and committed to the ideals of peace, justice, and development. He noted that the nation’s founding fathers envisioned a Nigeria where freedom is matched with responsibility, and progress is built on inclusivity and fairness.
Dr. Agunloye’s Independence Day message aligns with the SDP’s campaign for progress, integrity, and people-focused governance, as the party positions itself as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s democratic space.
As the nation reflects on 65 years of independence, the call for leadership anchored on Character, Competence, Courage, and Compassion resonates strongly, especially at a time when Nigerians are yearning for transformative change.
