The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, gave the charge at the passing-out parade of 428 cadets of the 32nd ASC Basic Course International, on Friday, in Kaduna.

The minister, represented by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board, Mr Abdulmalik Jibrin, said the officers had completed one month of intensive training.

According to him, the cadets, drawn from various state and national commands, had been equipped with skills in custodial and non-custodial operations in line with the Nigerian Correctional Service Act, 2019.

The minister further stated that the training supports ongoing reforms aimed at inmate rehabilitation and reintegration and aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He applauded the Controller-General of Corrections, Sylvester Nwakuche, and the college for their efforts towards professionalising the Service.

Tunji-Ojo also reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to staff welfare and timely, merit-based promotions.

He urged the officers to serve with integrity and patriotism, adding: “The journey ahead will be demanding, but you are well prepared.”
