In a significant announcement, His Eminence, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria, has declared that the Crescent of Shawwal has been sighted in several locations across the country. As a result, tomorrow, Sunday, the 30th of March 2025, will mark the 1st of Shawwal, 1446 AH, and the joyous occasion of Eidul Fitr in Nigeria.
The sighting of the crescent is a momentous event for Muslims, symbolizing the conclusion of Ramadan and the beginning of Eid celebrations. As families and communities prepare for this festive day, it is a time for gratitude, reflection, and unity.
In his message, the Sultan prayed for Allah SWT to accept all acts of ibadah performed during the holy month and to bestow His Rahma, Maghfirah, and liberation from the Hellfire upon His servants. He extended warm wishes for a blessed Eid, invoking the phrase, “Amin Ya Rabb.”
As the nation comes together to celebrate Eidul Fitr, may this day bring joy, peace, and prosperity to all.
