Speaking during a visit to Kano State Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, Nana warned that some criminals intend to use the traditional Ramadan festivity as a cover for their activities.

Tashe is a tradition practised during Ramadan in which children and adults visit homes and gatherings to sing, dance, and perform traditional plays in exchange for gifts.

It begins on the 10th day of Ramadan.

Speaking further on the practice, Nana urged the youth involved to desist and called on parents to caution their children against engaging in criminal behavior.

“The Kano State government is fully committed to ensuring the safety of its citizens during this holy month,” Nana stated.

Other representatives of Operation Safe Corridor, including Kamilu Baban Boy, echoed the warning, emphasizing that Tashe is meant to bring joy and should not be used as an excuse for criminal activities.

The Public Relations Officer of the group, Abubakar Miji, reassured residents that the operation’s members, who are natives of Kano, are committed to maintaining peace.

“We are from Kano; our origin is Kano, and we will not allow the disruption of peace in the state using Tashe,” he said, adding that they are aware of those behind such plans.

Operation Safe Corridor has urged Kano residents to remain vigilant.
