German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Wednesday said it was “wrong and dangerous” for President Donald Trump to call Zelensky a dictator.
Scholz also condemned Trump’s attempt to deny Zelensky democratic legitimacy.
Newspot reported that Trump had, on Wednesday, described Ukrainian President Zelensky as a dictator.
Trump also claimed that Zelensky had refused to organise elections, saying he was very low in Ukrainian polls.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the only thing the Ukrainian president was good at was playing former US President Joe Biden “like a fiddle.”
“A dictator without elections, Zelensky better move fast or he is not going to have a country left,” Trump said.
However, responding to Trump’s claim about Zelensky, Scholz said that the Ukrainian constitution and electoral law make it clear that proper elections cannot be held in the middle of a war.
“What is correct is that Volodymyr Zelensky is the elected head of state of Ukraine.
“The fact that proper elections cannot be held in the middle of a war is reflected in the Ukrainian constitution and electoral law,” Scholz told Der Spiegel.
