The management of Kogi United has terminated the appointment of the Technical Adviser of the club, Chidi Oji, with immediate effect.
The termination of Oji’s appointment was disclosed in a statement signed by the Chairman of Kogi United, Abdulmalik Isah, which was made available to Newspot on Saturday.
“After due consultations based on the club’s recent poor run of results and the marching order given by the Government through the Ministry Of Youth and Sport Development for the repositioning of the club ahead of the forthcoming Nationwide League One season, there is need to rejig the club with fresh and experience hands which became imperative.
“It is therefore in the light of these that the State Ministry Of Youth and Sport ordered the termination of the contract of the Technical Adviser and other coaches to allow for fresh hands to be recruited to take charge of the club and reposition it ahead of the new season,” the statement said.
According to the chairman, the Ministry of Sports which controls the state-owned clubs has approved the appointment of Coach Yusuf Salihu to take charge temporarily, pending when a substantive head coach is appointed.
Newspot gathered that Kogi United Fc will kick start preparations ahead of the 2025 Nationwide League One with the 2025 Kogi State Federation Cup duel against Bako FC on February 15 at the Confluence Stadium Lokoja.
