Fervent night vigil prayers in churches of Anglican Communion in Nigeria are going on as at 4 am pn Sunday 8 December 2024 for the missing of the retired Archbishop of the Niger Province and Bishop of Nnewi Most Rev’d Godwin Okpala and his driver.
Okpala and his driver were said to have gone missing since Friday morning after they went on a trip to the Umuchu community in Aguata Local Government Area of the state, but failed to arrive at their destination.
It was gathered that despite efforts by the church to establish contact with them, no communication has been received and the whereabouts of the cleric, his driver and their vehicle have remained unknown.
A prayer request issued by the Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Rt. Rev. Ndubuisi Obi, on Saturday, called for intercessory prayers for the Archbishop’s safe return had gone to all Dioceses in Nigeria
Bishop Obi has also directed all churches in his diocese to raise prayer warriors and keep praying round the clock until there whereabouts are known.
More worrisome is that no one could track their movements sonce last Friday.
A source told newspot that the securty operatives are keeping their strategies to their chests as they refused to speak with the press.
The source said before noon today Sunday something about their whereabouts will be known.
