MEET JAMB NEW BOARD DIRECTORS

  1. The Minister of Education has approved the  appointment of four Directors for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB). This is on account of their success in the just-concluded staff promotion examinations, which took place on Tuesday, 29th October, 2024. The four Directors are:

 

Mr. Billiaminu Akintola Shittu

 

Mr. Billiaminu Akintola Shittu was born on 11th December, 1972. He is a native of Lagos State. He holds a B.Sc. (Ed.) in Accounting from the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and PGD in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2009 and an M.Sc. in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2018.

He joined the services of the Board in 1999 as Principal Account Assistant IV. He had served in the Finance and Accounts as well as the Test Development Department of the Board in various capacities. He was the pioneer Revenue Officer of the Ogun State Office of the Board. He had also once served briefly as the Zonal Coordinator, Yola Zonal Office, Adamawa State. Until his promotion to the position of Director, he was a Deputy Director and acting Director/Coordinator of the Board’s National Headquarters Annex, Lagos.

 

Mr. Chidebe Adindu Achunine

 

Mr. Chidebe Adindu Achunine is a native of Abia State. He holds a B.Sc. in Government and Public Administration from Abia State University in 1993 and an MBA in Management from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt in 2013.

 

He joined the services of the Board on 6th January, 1999, as an Administrative Officer II. Throughout his career, Mr. Achunine has significantly impacted the Board’s operations and has served in different capacity and departments. While serving as Coordinator in Umuahia, he supervised the construction of the Board’s Professional Test Centre in Okoko-Item and ensured that the facility became operational through the successful conduct of the 2022 UTME at the facility. He was also able to secure the Certificate of Occupancy for the Board’s office premises in Umuahia.

 

Until his promotion to the position of Director, Mr. Chidebe Achunine was a Deputy Director at the National Headquarters Annex, Owerri, Imo State. He is the new Director, Special Duties Department.

 

Mrs. Temitope Catherine Akintola

 

Mrs. Temitope Catherine Akintola was born in Igede Ekiti, Ekiti State, on 23rd November, 1968. She obtained her Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in 1989 from the then Oyo State College of Education, Ila Orangun in 1986. She also has a B.Ed. in Language Arts in 1994 from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

 

She joined the services of the Board as an Administrative Officer II in July, 1999, and advanced through the ranks to attain the position of Deputy Director in the Quality Assurance Department in January, 2020.

 

She has served diligently in multiple role across Departments of the Board and had represented the Board at various official functions. Until her current position to the position of Director, she was a Deputy Director, Quality Assurance Department.

 

Mr. Gani Olabisi Abd’rahim

 

Mr. Gani Olabisi Abd’rahim was born in Offa, Kwara State, in 1969. Mr. Olabisi Abd’rahim holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Linguistics from the University of Ilorin. He joined the services of the Board in 1998 as an Administrative Officer and rose diligently through the ranks to become a Deputy Director in 2020.

 

Mr. Gani Olabisi Abd’rahim has been widely recognised for his diligence and dedication to duty. He is also a recipient of numerous certificates and awards from various institutions and establishments across the country. He has attended various programmes, seminars and courses throughout his career. In particular, the Advanced Security Management Course 1 (AMSC 1) at the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Abuja, in 2011. He also attended the Higher Defence and Strategic Studies Course (Course 30) and the Peace Support Operations Course for Senior Mission Leaders, both at the National Defence College, Abuja, in 2022. He is currently enrolled in an 18-month intensive training programme in Organisational Science (Orgtology). Upon completion, he will qualify as a Certified Orgtologist, joining the ranks of the first three Nigerians to earn this credential through the International Orgtology Institute. Before his promotion to the level of Director, he was the Head, Corporate Compliance and Oversight Services (CCOS) Unit, Registrar’s Office. Mr. Gani Olabisi Abd’rahim is the new Director, Human Resources Department.

 

 

MAKE PUNCTUALITY YOUR WATCHWORD – ABDULHAMEED

 

Mr. Hakeem AbdulHameed, the Ogun State Coordinator of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has urged the staff of the State Office to prioritize punctuality in their work ethic.

 

During the monthly staff general meeting held on Monday, November 4, 2024, the State Coordinator emphasized that punctuality is a reflection of strong work ethics, noting that employees with commendable work habits consistently arrive at their duty posts on time.

 

AbdulHameed highlighted that punctuality is crucial not only for professional success but also in all areas of an individual’s life. He encouraged staff to be punctual at work, as it enhances the quality of their output and positively reflects on the Board.

 

He also condemned the practice of leaving the office without permission, stating that such behavior would no longer be tolerated. Staff members are required to seek permission before departing from their duty posts.

 

Additionally, Mr. AbdulHameed reiterated the importance of wearing identity cards for easy identification and security purposes.

 

In closing, he expressed gratitude to the staff for their diligence and excellent service delivery to the public. However, he urged them not to become complacent and cautioned against any unethical practices that could damage the Board’s reputation
