OLOYEDE WINS COEASU LEGACY AWARD FOR EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENT

The Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has been conferred with the Legacy Award for Educational Advancement by the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union(COEASU).

The prestigious award was conferred on Prof. Oloyede during the 2024 International Teachers’ Day celebration held on Friday, 4th October, 2024, at B.O. Ukeje Hall, National Commission for Colleges of Education, Abuja.

The President of the association, Dr. Smart Olugbeko, in his remarks, said the recognition accorded Prof Oloyede is a testament to his exceptional leadership, vision and dedication, to excellence in education, particularly in his role as Registrar of the Board.

In his words, “As we celebrate the tireless efforts and contributions of teachers and educators across the nation, we also acknowledge the crucial role of administrators like you in shaping the trajectory of the education sector. Your transformative initiatives, innovative approaches, and commitment to integrity have had a profound impact on JAMB and the wider education community.

“Your leadership style, characterized by transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness, serves as a model for administrators across the nation,” he said.

Olugbeko pointed out that Prof Oloyede’s efforts have not only enhanced the credibility of JAMB but have also inspired a new generation of educators and students alike. He added that the award is a tribute to his outstanding contributions to the growth of the education sector.

Also honoured on the occasion was the Executive Secretary, NCCE, Prof. Paulinus Okwelle; and the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Arc. Sonny Echono.

Others were former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Abdulmalik Mahmood; Director, Colleges of Education, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr.Uchenna Mba; Chairman, Committee of Provosts of Colleges of Education in Nigeria and the Immediate Past President, Academic staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Abiodun Ogunyemi.

The Union also gave scholarship awards to six best students drawn from each geopolitical zone of the country with a cash reward of one million naira to the best overall across the six zones, while the other five received five hundred thousand naira each.

The Registrar in his remarks, thanked COEASU for the honour bestowed on him. He equally congratulated the COEASU President on the successes recorded under his watch. He described him as a performing leader and urged him to keep the flag flying in the onerous task of improving the lots of his union and the education sector in general.
