Oba Adewumi Ogunleye of Akinale Kingdom has passed on.

The Owu Traditional Council has announced the death of the traditional ruler of Akinale Town, Owu Abeokuta in Ogun State Oba (Dr.) Olufemi Adewunmi Ogunleye, the Towulade of Akinale Kingdom.

The Owu Traditional Council, in a statement by the Oganla Owu, Chief Johnson Olu Fatoki, described late Oba Ogunleye as a peace loving, progressive and bridge builder.

Meanwhile, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo who is the Balogun of Owu kingdom has described the passage of Oba Olufemi Ogunleye as shocking and a great loss to the entire Owu land, Ogun State and the country in general.

Chief Obasanjo said the news of the demise of Oba Ogunleye is shocking, having informed him about his travelling some weeks back in high spirits.

Also, a former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle AMOSUN commiserates with the family of the late monarch and the entire Owu Kingdom on the loss of the traditional ruler who joined his ancestors at the age of 79, describing him as a respected monarch with unwavering commitment and passion towards the development of Akinale, Owu Kingdom, Egbaland, and Ogun State.

While condoling with the widow, Olori Olanike Ogunleye, the children, and grandchildren, the former President and former Governor prays Almighty God to grant Oba Olufemi Ogunleye eternal rest, and give the entire Ogunleye family and the people of Akinale, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
