Manchester United star Marcus Rashford can fall in love with football again by joining Arsenal this summer, says former Gunner Emmanuel Petit.

Rashford has endured a miserable campaign at Old Trafford, scoring just eight times with his form a major concern.

Signs of his frustration with life at Old Trafford were evident again last week when the forward was involved in a heated exchange with a supporter while warming up ahead of the game against Newcastle United.

Major upheaval is expected at Old Trafford this summer with almost the entire squad put up for sale by INOES and Sir Jim Ratcliffe – with Rashford among that group.

Paris Saint-Germain are long-term admirers of the 26-year-old but the Ligue 1 champions are thought to have cooled their interest.

Former France international Petit would love to see former side Arsenal try to lure Rashford to north London, pointing to Kai Havertz’ remarkable turnaround as proof that the move could pay off massively for all parties.

Petit is convinced Rashford ‘needs’ a move away from United this summer and is confident Arsenal would be the perfect destination.

‘Listen, I know Kai Havertz has improved massively at Arsenal, but it’s difficult to say whether Arteta could do the same with Rashford if he moved to the club,’ Petit BoyleSports, who offer the latest Euro 2024 betting.

‘However, I have no doubt that Rashford needs a new start and I think Arsenal could be perfect for him.

‘We all know the quality of Rashford for what he’s done in years at Man United, but everyone questioned Havertz and his position when he moved from Chelsea.

‘Would Rashford be good at Arsenal? Give me the paper, and let me sign it for him right now!

‘Rashford in a good environment would be incredible for the Gunners as they all look miserable at United. I saw what happened with the fan and I understand his frustration, so if Rashford wants to leave, he’s more than welcome at Arsenal and the door is open for him.

‘Havertz was in a strange environment at Chelsea and he wasn’t happy, but he has smiled at Arsenal and I can finally see his teeth – I want that for Rashford.’
