Harry Kane insists it will be ‘tough’ for ‘really good team’ Arsenal to beat Liverpool and Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners, currently level on points with Liverpool and one above Man City, are locked in a three-way race for the title.

Mikel Arteta’s side also have aspirations of winning the Champions League, having drawn 2-2 with Kane’s Bayern Munich in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.

Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal an early lead at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday but goals from ex-Gunner Serge Gnabry and former Tottenham captain Kane turned the match on its head.

Leandro Trossard denied Bayern victory with a 76th-minute equaliser but the result was far from a disaster for the German side, who are 16 points behind Bundesliga champions-elect Bayer Leverkusen.

As not only a former Tottenham player but a Spurs legend, Kane has had a number of run-ins with north London rivals Arsenal over the years and was asked after the 2-2 draw in north London whether this was the best Gunners team he has faced.

‘I mean they were good last year and they just fell short,’ said Kane, who has netted 39 goals in 38 games for Bayern since leaving Tottenham last summer.

Asked if he believes Arsenal can lift the Premier League trophy this season, Kane said: ‘It will be tough but who knows? It’s not for me to say.’

Arsenal led the Premier League title race for much of last season before a wobble towards the end of the campaign allowed Manchester City to clinch a third successive title.

The Gunners look an improved side this year, however, and are just seven games away from winning their first league title since 2004.

‘We knew coming here it would be difficult,’ Kane added. ‘Obviously Arsenal are top of the Premier League for a reason.

‘They’re a really good team. It’s still all to play for next week and we’re in front of our own fans so maybe we’re slightly happier than them but it’s all to play for.’

Arsenal legend David Seaman, meanwhile, feels his former club ‘didn’t play our game’ in the first leg of the Champions League tie with Bayern Munich.

‘When I was watching the game I was a little bit nervous about how we were playing,’ the former goalkeeper told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast.

‘We didn’t give Bayern the respect they deserved. I know in their league they are way off the pace at the top, but they’re still a really good team and they showed that.

‘We showed a little bit or nerves – a bit of inexperience in that situation. It will be tough [in the second leg] but I’m quite confident because now the pressure is really on Bayern in front of their own fans. For Arsenal, it’s just go there and play our game.

‘Now we know what they’re capable of. We didn’t play our best game, but if we play our best game in Munich we have a great chance.’
