Manchester United wonderkid James Scanlon has received his first call-up for the Gibraltar national team.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder started out in the youth ranks at Derby County before he was snapped up by the Red Devils.
Scanlon has impressed playing for United’s U18s and U21s teams and has now been rewarded by his country as they named their latest squad on Friday.
Gibraltar are set to play two matches this month which both come against Lithuania in the Nations League.
United fans have been reacting to the news on social media and are delighted that their young talented star is stepping up to the international stage.

‘Congrats to James Scanlon,’ @RedYouthUnited added. ‘Will be a great experience for the youngster.’
Scanlon, who is also eligible to represent England, has impressed for Gibraltar U17s and registered two goals on his debut.
At club level he has produced four goals across nine games for United U18s, according to Transfermarkt.
Scanlon will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of former youth academy graduates Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, who have broken into the first team under Erik ten Hag.
