Kaduna abductions looked planned in advance – ACF demands rescue of schoolchildren

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) says time has come to completely eradicate terrorism in the country.

Professor Muhammad Tukur Baba, the ACF National Publicity Secretary, said this in a statement on Saturday, while reacting to the recent abduction of over 287 primary and secondary school pupils at Kuriga in Kaduna.

He stated that the incident looked planned in advance.

He lamented that, “as a sad reminder about their unabated presence, the terrorists struck again, attacked worshippers, and killed two persons during Friday prayers at Anguwar Makera, Kwasakwasa community in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, Kaduna State.”

He recalled that students of the Federal University Gusau who were abducted months ago were still in captivity.

ACF called for the immediate and unconditional return of the abducted students and pupils unharmed to their parents and guardians.

The forum also extended its sympathy to the Kwasakwasa community over the heinous attack on its people and hailed the fast response of the Kaduna State Government.

It called on the security forces to adopt more effective strategies to end the scourge of terrorism in the communities.

ACF demanded the immediate deployment of new measures, including the much-discussed Special Schools Security Scheme, the Schools Vigilante Force, Anti-Kidnapping Squads, among others across the terror-prone states.

The forum called on the Federal Government to go beyond perfunctory directives to the security forces to rescue the abducted students, adding that “it must go beyond bland and sterile directives to insist on results within specific time frames.”
