Chairman of the Branch, Captain Ibrahim Ladi Gadine, Rtd, on Monday brought this to the fore in an interview with newsmen, shortly after observing this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Damaturu.

He expressed concern over the rising inflation in the country, saying it was affecting the purchasing power of ex-servicemen and women whose pension is meagre.

“Our members are facing a lot of challenges; one of such challenges is lack of shelter as many of our members are still living in rented houses.

“Another challenge is the rising cost of goods and services. The take-home pensions are nothing to write home about, and the burden of training their children and grandchildren is a great problem to us”, Gadine said.

He appealed to governments at all levels and members of the public, particularly philanthropists, to cultivate the habit of assisting members of the Nigerian Legion.
