Nasarawa committee clears Jafaru Ango of alleged palliative diversion

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee investigating the diversion of palliatives has cleared the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango, of any wrongdoing.

Hon Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman of the Committee, during the hearing in Lafia, confirmed the clearance and stated that Ango was innocent after careful examination.

Ango had explained that he was only responsible for auxiliary functions and was not directly involved in distributing the palliatives.

The committee also invited Dr. Nawani Aboki, the Special Adviser to Gov. Abdullahi Sule on Media and Publicity, as well as Hon. Bello Akoza, Overseer of Ekye Development Area, to explain their roles in the distribution of palliatives in Ekye Development Area.

Newspot had reported that the committee chairman said that the invitation extended to them was in the interest of fairness and the committee’s readiness to do a thorough job.

The Commissioner for Special Duties on Security and Public Matters from Karu Local Government Area, Amb. Timothy Maikasuwa also appeared before the committee to explain his involvement in the distribution of palliatives.

Meanwhile, other commissioners and chairmen from Nasarawa South Senatorial District have elaborated on their respective distribution roles.

Hon. James Thomas, Chairman, Karu Local Government Area, and Overseer of Karshi, along with councillors and Karu speaker, stood by Hon. Jafaru Ango during the hearing.
