Army plans renewed clampdown on crime, launches training

The Nigerian Army is set to commence three training across the country to forestall rising cases of criminality during the yuletide period, particularly in South-East, South-South, South-West and North-Central regions of the country.

The exercises are ‘Operation Golden Dawn III’ in the South-East; ‘Enduring Peace III’ in the North-Central and ‘Still Waters III’ in the South-South and South-West.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu disclosed this while briefing journalists in Abuja on Friday.

He said the operations would be formally launched by the Chief of Army Staff Lt-Gen Taoreed Lagbaja at a later date.

Onyema said the operations were designed to improve individual and collective professional competence of the personnel, adding that it would dovetail into real-time operations to tackle various peculiar security challenges in the geo-political zones.
