A call has gone to all prospective UTME candidates to ignore the insinuations in some quarters that the service and portal charges of the Board have been reviewed upward.
This appeal was made by the State Coordinator on while addressing candidates requesting the services of the Board at Amable Nigeria Limited, CBT Centre, located at No. 3, Old Timber Road, Umuahia, during his unscheduled visit to the facility.
According to Mr. Adebiyi, paying unscheduled visits to centres is one of the Key Performance Metrics (KPMs) used by the State Office to assess the extent of compliance of these centres with their rules of engagement with the Board.
He disclosed that the decision of the Board to maintain the existing charges was borne out of its desire to make education more affordable for all candidates, particularly, in the face of the current economic realities in the country.
He noted that the hike in the pump price of petrol has, no doubt, negatively impacted the operational activities of the Board, but as a responsive and responsible organisation, the Board would not pass the extra costs to candidates.
In the same vein, he urged candidates to take advantage of the various channels of communication provided by the Board namely: ticketing, the Board’s social media handles, among others, to lodge their complaints or make enquiries.
He added that SERVICOM Desk Officers are available to attend to them any time of the day, including Saturdays and Sundays. The State Coordinator maintained that, the Board, aside its emphasis on the provision of top-notch service delivery at all times, also has zero tolerance for any act of extortion of candidates and would go to any length to bring perpetrators to book.
He enjoined them to report any form of exploitation or other related acts to the Board. Mr. Adebiyi also advised candidates to be wary of the unsavoury activities of some unscrupulous cybercafe operators and urged them to approach only JAMB offices or any other JAMB accredited CBT centres nearest to them to transact their business.
