The Abuja Markets Management Limited has installed an automated gate fitted with a Closed Circuit Television for the safety of traders and parking security.

Speaking at the inspection visit of the automated device, on Friday, at the Garki market, AMML’s managing Director, Abubakar Faruk, said the project was necessary to advance with the world in making things better.

According to Faruk, the equipment includes an integrated camera that records all cars entering the market and aids with traffic control, claimed to have invented the automated process in the FCT.

He said, “We want to improve security and packing efficiency within the market. We want to make the market conducive and seamless where you can come, do your business, and leave.”

While mentioning that the automation would be implemented in other markets with a similar deployment, he said that the project, which was at 95% completion, was delayed due to difficulties with the Abuja investment company.

He, however, assured that the project would be finished soon.

“In the Wuse market, we have a deployment similar to this; we have achieved 95% completion, just remaining test run, but because of the issues we are having with the Abuja investment, the project is stalled, our equipment is there unprotected, so hopefully we will come to an agreement and we hope to go back and conclude the automation.”

The automated access device’s boss of the Northern Head of Interswitch, Ayo Owo, said that there was sufficient technology in place to ensure that the system could be easily and properly maintained.

He stated that the system is automated so that it might operate sustainably on its own.
