A security expert, Alhaji Aminu Danbuba, has advised Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State not to engage in any negotiations with bandits in the name of peace.
According to him, there are some policies of previous administrations that need to be prioritised in order to ensure the well-being of the state and the security of its people.
He pointed out that former Governor Matawalle had entered into a peace accord with them, resulting in the wastage of billions of Naira belonging to the state, but with no positive or beneficial results from the negotiations.
Speaking with Newspot in Gusau, the state capital, Danbuba noted that currently, life in the state has never been more precarious, with insecurity prevailing everywhere as bandits continue to ravage the state on a daily basis.
He said, “Killings and kidnappings are also rampant in many locations. Farming activities are no longer progressing as usual.”
According to him, agriculture remains one of the most important economic activities in the state, but it has taken a new and dangerous turn due to the incessant activities of bandits, making it a risky business for farmers.
