A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress party (APC) in Ondo state has congratulated Nigerians for having Tinubu as President at this time, describing him as the best man for the job.
Making this assertion was Chief Ronald Olumuyiwa Ogunleye, former member of the House of Representatives in the third Republic.
Ogunleye described Tinubu as a Democrat to the core whom they served at the National assembly together in 1992. Tinubu was then in the Senate.
The former Governorship candidate of Democratic Party (DPN) in Ondo state said ” The Tinubu I know is a just and fare person. He was in the Senate while I was in the House of Representatives at the 3rd Republic. Coincidentally we belonged to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) then. He is a very experienced politician, a Democrat who believed in Equity, justice and fair play ”
Ogunleye who contested the 1999 Governorship election in Ondo state as Deputy Governorship candidate to the late Dr Olusegun Agagu , lauded the appointments made by President Tinubu so far, describing it as the right step in the right direction, adding that Nigeria will fair better by the time the president complete making all his ministerial and other Board appointments.
Though, the appointments made so far has not relected anyone from Ondo state, Ogunleye who was a honorary advisor to the Presidential Campaign Council of the APC in the last Presidential elections said there is no cause for worry as the appointments are ongoing. ” The President has merely appointed his personal aides and the Service Chiefs.
Ogunleye said ” There are still many appointments to be made. At the beginning of this Republic, during the regime of President Obasanjo, Ekiti got Special Adviser, Ondo got Senior Special. Ekiti got full minister, Ondo also got full minister, while Ogun got minister of State. So, its too early to conclude that Ondo state has been excluded.”
He continues ” Appointments made so far are being done gradually and on need basis. Of course Ondo state did well by voting for President Tinubu impressively in the last election. I’m sure the President believes in equity, justice and fair play ”
On what the absence of Governor Akeredolu in the state due to illness portends for smooth running of the state, he said ” I sympathise with our dear Governor at this time and I wish him quick recovery, I must state that governance is continuum, as the Governor has constitutionally transmitted power to his Deputy and the state Legislative arm is functioning very well “
