The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Trinity University, Pastor Samuel Olatunji, has said Nigeria would require proper orientation and change of attitude at the leadership level to reverse the trend that had seen an increased number of Nigerians seeking relocation abroad.

According to him, Nigeria needs the right people with a proper commitment to nation-building, the capacity to instill the right thinking in young Nigerians and steer the affairs of the country towards a better nation.

He spoke on Thursday during the university’s fifth matriculation ceremony and lecture titled, “Raising a New Generation of Leaders in a Digital Age: The Role of Nigerian Ivory Towers.”

Olatunji said, “There is no analysis you do from any perspective in the world where Nigerians will not be ranked as highly endowed people. It is a tragedy that has befallen the people. Unfortunately, some aspect of our national life is not well managed; this scares many young people away. Nigeria is a land of huge opportunities.

“A right attitude and orientation at the leadership level will do a lot to reverse the trend.”

The vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Charles  Ayo, said the school had been in partnership with Information Technology companies to prepare the students for the future.

He said, “We are gradually into the fourth and fifth industrial revolution and it is IT that will dictate the future, hence this institution is in partnership with IT organisations.”
