Large turnout of voters has been recorded in LEA Primary School, Kubwa, Polling Unit which serves as Registration Area Centre for Kubwa ward.
Our correspondent observed that as early as 7am, a large number of very enthusiastic voters were seen trying to verify their names on the voters List.
Some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission added that some election materials arrived since Friday.
Our correspondent monitoring the election in Kubwa, observed that a team of security agencies including the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service and the Federal Road Safety Corps were on ground to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
Also, members of the National Youth Service Corps who were recruited as INEC ad hoc staff were also putting finishing touches for the commencement of accreditation.
A voter, Mr Bode Oluwasegun said massive turnout voters gave him hope.
He said, “People are here excited to vote for their respective candidates. Though the only challenge so far is that people are finding it difficult trying to locate their voting points since this polling unit has been split into voting points.”
Another voter, Mr Isaac Nwachuku also told The PUNCH that the turnout was the largest in 24 years.
He said, “I have been voting in this unit for 24 years and this is the most impressive turnout so far.
“The reason is that voters this season, are voting based on the interest for the nation and not based on party interest.”
“We are here to change the narrative,” he added.
The PUNCH gathered that Kubwa, a suburb in the Federal Capital Territory has 11 Polling Units.
They include Kubwa Village/Kofar Sarki, Bazango/kofar Sarki, Kukwaba I/ Kukwaba Market, Kukwaba II/security Post, NYSC Camp, Kukwaba III and Maitama I and III.
