David Beckham has labelled Arsenal World Cup star Bukayo Saka as ‘quality’ and has revealed his favourite goals from Qatar.

The tournament ended on Sunday as Argentina beat France on penalties following a 3-3 draw after 120 minutes in what was an incredible final.

England and Manchester United hero Beckham was quizzed about the Three Lions following their run to the quarter-finals.

One player who stood out for England was Arsenal’s Saka – who left Qatar with three goals to his name as well as an impressive performance against France.

‘We have got players who have been part of this team now for many years,’ Beckham told BeanymanSports.

‘You look at the quality of Bukayo Saka and then you look at the quality of Jude Bellingham and the players that we have coming through in our country.

‘I think it’s a real positive. These tournaments whether you win them or get knocked out early, it’s always an experience that you can take on to the next game or the next tournament.’

Asked to pick his favourite goal from the 2022 tournament, Beckham added: ‘I think Richarlison’s scissor kick for me was one of the best [goals].

‘For me personally, I’m going to have to say [Luis] Chavez’s free-kick. Being obviously a fan of free-kicks, I’m going to have to say that was a very special one.

‘There’s been great goals all the way through the tournament, but if I had to pick two it would be Chavez’s and Richarlison’s.’

Beckham, meanwhile, has finally responded to Joe Lycett’s money-shredding stunt with a statement for the comedian’s Channel 4 show after failing to pull out of his multi-million pound deal with World Cup hosts Qatar.

Last month, Lycett, 34, gave the former England footballer an ultimatum to end his contract with the nation, where homosexuality is still illegal, or he would destroy £10,000 of his own money.

Beckham, 47, did not publicly respond at the time, with Lycett going through with his threat to destroy the cash on a livestream, although it was later revealed that the money was fake and that he had donated it to LGBTQ+ charities.
