The Police Command in Gombe State confirmed the death of a 45-year-old man, Ahmed Aliyu, from a Sunday attack allegedly carried out by unknown persons in the Hammadu Kafi area of Akko Local Government Area.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi revealed in the statement on Monday in Gombe.
According to the statement, a report was made at about 11:00 p.m. on Sunday by a relative of the deceased, a certain Bashir Umar, who reported the attack had earlier occurred about 8:00 a.m.
“From the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that the victim was attacked with knives and had fatal injuries on the left side of his chest and back,” Abdullahi stated. “He was rushed to the Specialist Hospital in Gombe, where a doctor later confirmed him dead.”
Referring to the attack by the perpetrators as, “senseless and unwarranted”, the command stated that an intelligence led investigation has been launched to track down the suspects and arrest them.
The command urged residents to remain calm and assist in the investigation by volunteering any information that could aid in solving the case.
