The Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board(JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the failure of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCDC) to address the series of reported shortcomings of the personnel of the Corps serving with the Board. The Registrar stated this during a virtual meeting held on Tuesday, 27th February, 2024, with the top echelons of the Corps ahead of the Board’s 2024, optional mock examination scheduled for Thursday, 7th March, 2024 and the main examination slated to commence from Friday, 19th April, 2024. The shortcomings, which ranged from lateness, indiscipline and abscondment from duty posts, were committed in the Board’s offices in Ibadan, Asaba, Ilorin, among others.According to the Registrar, the Board viewed these misdemeanours as serious acts of misconduct on the part of the officials concerned, which were regrettably still unresolved despite being reported to the Corps over a year earlier. He stated that the level of indiscipline being exhibited by the personnel of the Corps attached to the Board was unacceptably high and needed to be tackled headlong to safeguard the integrity of the organisation in line with its mandate and core values. He pointed out that the Board deserved a better deal, and charged the NSCDC to live up to expectation while performing more than the complementary private security outfits by being proactive in promptly addressing acts that could tanish the corporate image of the Corps with a view to preventing strained relationship with partners, clients and the public. Furthermore, the Registrar disclosed that the meeting was called to appraise the security collaboration with the Corps towards re-strategising for better policing of the forthcoming examination and urged the NSCDC personnel to take their engagements as a call to national duty.He said as a critical component of the examination, NSCDC officials are expected to report at their centres promptly, scan the candidates to prevent the ingress of prohibited items into the examination venues as well as maintain order within the vicinity of the examination centres. In his remarks, the Deputy Commandant-General(DCG) represented by DCP Operations, Mr. Okere Viginus, commended the Registrar for the confidence he reposed in the Corps to provide security for its examinations and promised to sustain the relationship with the Board as well as improve on all those areas that required attention. He assured the Registrar that the pending cases reported would soon be satisfactorily resolved and offenders made to face the full wrath of the law
