The Zamfara State verification committee on rustled cattle has commenced work on over 187 cattle, saying that when the process is concluded, the animals will be handed over to their rightful owners.

Chairman of the committee, Dr. Aliyu Sani Jangebe made this known during a press briefing on Thursday at the verification venue in Gusau, the state capital.

According to him, “One has to be very careful in verifying the rightful owners of the rustled cattle to avoid intruders or some people who falsely claimed to be relatives of those who lost their cattle.”

Jangebe added that the committee would not hand over to any person who happened to see his rustled cattle without reasonable proof of ownership and the person must follow due process in accordance with Islamic Shari’a.

“Anybody who sees his rustled cattle, we will, first of all, ask him to perform ablution, immediately after ablution, we give him the Holy Qur’an to swear as a condition to collect his cattle”, he added.

“We are always available at the Zakat and endowment premises here in Lalan Area of Gusau, and anybody who lost his animal to rustling, should report to us so that when the government receives rustled cattle, we can communicate to him,” he said.

Newspot reports that Alhaji Dahiru Hamza and Alhaji Muhammed Rabi’u from Bukkuyum Local Government Area, who identified their cattle with proof, recovered them at the venue, expressed gratitude to Allah and Jangebe.

The committee also commended Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle for initiating the committee for the masses to have access to their rustled animals without hindrance.
