The Bishop of Gusau Anglican Diocese in Zamfara State, Rt. Revd John Danbinta, has condemned the decision of the All Progressives Congress to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the presidential election.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the 2nd season of the 8th Synod of the Diocese, Danbinta also expressed dismay on how growing insecurity in the country led to the shutting down of churches, schools and markets in the state.

He called on the appropriate authorities to wake up from their slumber and do something to move the country forward.

The cleric also decried how corruption crippled the economy, calling on government at all levels to wake up.

He said, “Corruption has eaten deep into our country Nigeria at all levels of government which made the country to be branded as one of the most corrupt nations in the world.”

He stressed that corruption had made it difficult for workers to get paid as and when due and graduates could not be gainfully employed.

He also criticised the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the All Progressives Congress, saying it would not augur well for the country.

“Knowing that the greatest problem in Nigeria is leadership, we called on Nigerians to make it a point of responsibility to vote in the forthcoming elections and to vote in persons who have respect for the pluralised nature of the country,” he added.
